Welcome to my blog, Wellness with Millie!

My goal is to offer you practical and actionable strategies to help you attain improved, overall wellness. When I say wellness, I’m referring to the totality of our being—the combination of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc. I have a genuine passion for learning and teaching simple, efficient and economical ways to create a greater sense of well-being. This approach not only addresses the body’s physical needs but also explores perceptions, thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behaviors that underlie our physicality.

That we all have a physical body is an indisputable component of our shared humanity. As sentient beings, we have sensations and can perceive, think and reason. We experience life through our amazing bodies via our senses and the interpretations of what we think we are perceiving. The state of our wellness greatly influences how we experience our earthly journey. I’ve learned first-hand that it takes far more time, energy, and money to be unhealthy than it takes to be healthy. When our life-style supports health and wellness, we not only survive but we can thrive.

Already intrigued by the mind-body connection, I followed a premedical curriculum while getting a BA in Psychology (Indiana University, 1992). I’ll be sharing from 33 years of hands-on experience doing massage therapy, wellness consulting, and energy work. I will continue to draw upon my journey of improving my own health, shedding excess pounds, rehabbing injuries and constantly adapting to ever-changing needs and circumstances. While streamlining many wellness routines, I’ve learned to become an efficiency expert with our bodies’ resources.

As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I am trained to support people in assessing, setting and accomplishing wellness goals. While nutrition plays an integral part in this; hydration, breath, rest and movement are also essential building blocks for maintaining healthy physical equilibrium/balance. Interpersonal influences of how we interact with others, our careers, our connection to nature, our relationship to our body, our self-esteem, etc. are also meaningful contributing factors. I’ll be providing simple tips and basic frameworks of healthier life-styles. I’ll give guidance on how to discover and incorporate the nuances/subtleties of your unique body and individual experiences, so you can thrive within your circumstances.

I will also be offering insights from an empathic and intuitive perspective. Our bodies are messengers, so it is important that we learn to listen and discern what our body is saying to us. As a perceptive empath, I have an inquisitive wonder for the human body and approach it with reverence and curiosity. Over the years, I have developed my empathic abilities while experiencing a wide range of messages from a wide range of physical bodies. I approach a body’s symptoms with respectful consideration like they are a riddle to be solved. I often see physical symptoms as metaphors with deeper meanings and much to teach us. The purpose of a symptom is to get our attention and to inspire our action. They offer us clues into what to do (or not do) to achieve greater wellness.

My hope is that my knowledge, experience, insights and enthusiasm will contribute to your well-being in ways that enhance the quality of your life.  I would love to spare you unnecessary pitfalls and missed opportunities. Sometimes healthy intentions can go awry. Perhaps by sharing from my explorations, trials, successes, misadventures and oversights; I can spare you the angst I’ve experienced when being counterproductive with the care of my body.

I look forward to exploring with you simple, practical, and sustainable ways to improve upon the many facets of our well-being. Expanding the way you understand and experience your body, can help you make better informed choices around how you tend to your basic physical needs. Regardless from where you are starting, this journey begins with a first step and builds from there. By reading this blog, you’ve taken the first step. Congratulations! I’m excited to welcome you along for a journey toward optimal wellness.
